POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Professor and Clinic Director in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling [5277]

RESPONSIBILITIES

The University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) School of Health Professions in the College of Health and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a twelve month tenure-track position in the Marriage and Family Therapy Programs at the Assistant Professor level beginning July 2014. The successful candidate will teach classes in Marriage and Family Therapy and/or Counseling, provide clinical supervision of practicum and internships, and maintain an active program of research, which includes the pursuit of external funding for research and/or service. In addition, the candidate will be expected to serve as a member and/or chair of theses and dissertations, perform student academic and career advisement, and to be actively engaged in departmental, college, university, and professional service. The candidate must also be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues on training, program development, and accreditation activities. It is an expectation that the successful candidate be actively engaged in the COAMFTE and/or CACREP accreditation processes.

As Clinic Director, the successful applicant will provide administrative oversight to the Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling on-campus clinics with the assistance of two coordinators of internships/practicums.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor:

A doctoral degree from a COAMFTE accredited program is preferred. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counselor Education and Supervision, or related field. The ideal candidate’s qualifications will include:

  • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity in their field appropriate for rank
  • AAMFT Clinical Membership
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor Status, or equivalent
  • Eligible for state approved LMFT supervisor status
  • Eligible for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Louisiana
  • Teaching Experience, to include designing and implementing online courses, in a university setting

Preferred Qualifications for Assistant Professor:

  • Experience working on assessment and accreditation
  • Experience having served as a thesis and/or dissertation mentor
  • Administrative experience in a clinical setting
  • Evidence of strong research agenda
  • Experience in pursuing external funding for research or service
  • Clinical experience in a school counseling setting
  • Research and/or clinical experience in one or more of the following areas: systems theory, classical approaches to marriage and family therapy, human sexuality, school counseling
  • Eligible for state approved LPC supervisor status
  • Eligible for licensure as a Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana
